Question about DDM kit

If you can install an amplifier, this will be easy for you.
Get the H4 bulb kit, hi/lo if you want. I have the hi/lo kit in mine and I never use the high beams, so its your call if you want to spend the $15 for it.
 
You can either get that kit or the "fat" ballast kit. Either will be fine. The slim kit will be a little easier to mount. I was really surprised at how small and compact the ballast is.

You don't need the HID harness, error eliminator, or adaptor cables.

I would definitely get the Hi/Lo kit. The harness that comes with it and the shield are definitely worth the $15.

The wiring is pretty simple. You'll have one fused wire going to the positive battery terminal. Each ballast will need a ground. You will only used one of the stock plugs.

The rubber cover that covers the lights is hard to fit back on. You might have to cut it.

FYI - i installed my DDM 5000k kit last night and there was only 1 pos and 1 ground. everything else was self-explanitory.

are u talking about the metal shield around the bulb? i was wondering what the deal was with that.
 
Yes. That shield just keeps light from going to the bottom of the housing and reflecting back up, causing glare.

You have the slim kit or regular kit? Hi/Lo?

Mine had a ground for each ballast.
 
I bought 3 kits of DDM installed in diffrent vehicles a year now..all are still alive.

What SHIELD???

DDM have CASPER SHIELD NOW? - PLS clarify...I'LL buy another set if so
 
i guess they are slim line. the ballasts are a little smaller than a pack of cards.

and yes. there were little metal shields on half of the bulb. so i take it i shouldnt take those off? cause i was going to, to see what the effect was. guess i wont now

I haven't visited DDM website for a long time beacuse I don't have problems with these kits I bought.
 
Hmm...if the ballast are black then we have the same ones. Not sure why yours would have one ground and mine only two, but either way it doesn't matter as long as they work.

I wouldn't take it off.

borgzman- I'm not sure if the 9006 kit from DDM comes with a shield.
 
When you say the slim ballasts, I assume you're talking about the Raptor kit? They looked slimmer and more durable than the other kit.

I am pretty excited to get mine in. They delayed the shipment until tomorrow, though. :(
 
The regular ballast kit is the Apexcone Raptor. The slim ballast is the DDM kit.

I thought something was weird with the prices and when I looked on the homepage it said they went up $5. Not a huge deal. Glad I got mine before the 1st though.
 
i was a little worried about how i secured my ballasts during installation. they didnt come w any sticy-back, so i just zip tied straight to the body in the inside of the engine bay. is that what yall did? i just dont know what types of vibrations and jolts the ballasts are designed to take.

I got the Apexcone Raptor kit. I paid 62 bucks after shipping, so still not too bad as long as they're brighter than my Silverstars.

Yeah. That's not bad. I think that's what I paid too.

Bummer that they won't get there today. I bet you are ready to put them in.

cordrayj1- I used 3M double sided tape and stuck them to the walls.

I had my ballasts for my fog lights just taped (temporary) and basically hanging loose and they have survived for about a month now. I need to mount them better before I go to school.

man those casper shields are ultra rare, ive only ever seen pictures of them online years ago.

I had the H4 kit in my 4runner but swapped them into my cbr and installed SL500 bi xenon D2S projectors....the difference is amazing compared to a H4 hid kit...makes me want to drive the 4runner at night more often!
