Question about low MPG

#1 the fuel gauge sucks, it tells you when it's full or empty, and in between.
#2 The colder the weather, and the shorter and slower the drive, the worse your MPG will be.

#4 To expound on #2 above, repeated short trips (OP says 4 miles) is going to kill the MPG since the modern gasoline powered engine is fueled rich until it's up to operating temperature. Multiple short trips will result in poor overall mileage since you are going through the warmup phase more frequently.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the site you given and the VIN is N for all and I do not see Cali version.

What year? Cali. was only 1999 and 2000....

kinda hijack the thread real quick? whats the normal readout values for bank 1 and bank 2 O2 sensors? one is usually around.999 the other varies in between .7 and .2, (normal .5)

They're supposed to vary rapidly as the truck is operating. The truck compensates fuel via the voltage reading. They're NEVER supposed to be reading a constant voltage while running.

On the topic of o2 sensors. I got mine for $162, via Amazon. 2000 Toyota 4Runner, with Cali-Emissions.

The town I live in is extremely small. It is not even 2 miles long. I get everything in that 2 miles... grocery to the hospital. And the distance between my home and office is 1 mile. This is probably why the gas mileage is 10 MPG or less.

I use SHELL or CHEVRON and same gas mileage.
