Question for dog owners.

It is the season of rain and cold weather, and i would like to get a coat for my dog.
Shes a 50lb Labrador/Doberman mix, loves to be out doors, but hates rain.

What type of coat would you recommend for rainy weather that can also be used in the winter? Hoody would be a big plus to cover her head.

No cheap petco brands.

Those are good prices. I know this doesn't apply, but I have a Great Dane and I purchased a foal's coat for him. They are warm and cheap. They look very similar to the style that was posted above.

We have one of the fleece blankets for our dog. She's kind of a princess and doesn't like to be in the rain but it keeps her warm, even when it gets below zero.

She needs something with a head cover that will keep her head dry during the rain. Other wise she will run for cover or will walk on a leash being miserable.

Well I've been trying to figure out how to carry my dogs in the back without having them roast to death since there's no cooling back there and it probably hits at least 120F with the sun shining in. Maybe putting them in a crate in the back seat will work. Anyone tried that?

I disagree. Some dogs might not require them, but some very much do.
Even a dog such as mine, Great Dane. He has virtually no fur and living in NE we have some pretty cold winters. He also has Spondylosis, where his back bones are fusing together. The cold winters cause him more pain. His coat seems to help with this.

I just let my dog roam free in the back, but she's a big arsed mountain dog and her crate wouldn't fit in the back anyway. That being said, I use the AC a lot more when she's in there cause it gets hot even in the back seat. Tinting my front windows helped a lot...

Terrible idea. If you get in an accident you will not only injure your dog, but you're likely to kill yourself and anyone else in your car.

Have never owned a dog that needed clothes. My heeler has been to the arctic ocean in late October, did fine with out Gore tex and Sorrells. He also never requested a sun shade while in Death valley and southern Baja in the height of summer.
Just giving you grief, when i think of dogs in clothes, i think of some ridiculous Paris Hilton type dog in a designer sweater or too too, i always feel so bad for those poor dogs.
Please do not dress your dogs up for Halloween, this i draw the line at and will hunt you down and make you feel as ridiculous as your dog wearing something he/she has no say so in.
Anyway, carry on, and just so you know, i am wearing new socks.

Its a good looking coat, but she needs a water proof head cover as well, fleece will soack up the water in rain.

Only time we dont go outside if its pouring rain. She will lay flat in the snow while eating a snow ball, chase ducks in a swamp, but hates the rain.

Have your dog wear a body harness and tie the leash to back seats head rest. It will give the dog enough room to move around and lay flat, but she wont eject out of the car in an accident.

I think ive seen straps or harnesses that attach to seat belts as well.
