So ive done my search and some topic were outdated on LED comparison.
I have a 2000 SR5 4runner, with Weirdly a 2 inch diameter Hole in the bumper vs the 2.5 inch every other 4runner got. So im a guy who lives in Canada, and do trail, with some light/medium offroading in both summer and winter, no mudding but i do go into wet conditions. (water, some light water muddy pool).
So Like i got no fog lights right now, i wanted to know what would be most people experiences with Fog lights of 2.5inch? In both HID and LED's
to start off with LED's i am talking about square "Work lights" that offer 120 degree beam pattern at 900 lumens each side. Maybe you guys know more or better performing ones but so far thoese are the ones i found.
LED Work Light:
Pros:
-Fits into my 2 inch hole with no problem
-Already waterproof IP68
-120 Degree Beam
-Requires only harness and switch and done.
Cons:
-Only 900 lumens
HID Mini H1 Retrofit
Chineese brand not morimoto for the cost)
Pros:
-Projector Bi-Xenon (very strong beam, also low and high beam)
-around 3000~ lumens each side for HID 4500K
Cons:
-Need to build waterproof box around the projector
-Fragile? idk how well will they cope with hard bumps during offroading
-Need to Dremmell my Bumper to have the 2.5inch fit in
The price for both turns around 100$
the LED seems the obvious choice for its waterproof and sturdiness but at the same time it lacks a bright light output. (1500 lumens would be nice)
The HID is overkill with light output but idk about how it would cope during offroading. its nto crazy rockclimbing but gravel, dirt, grass water type of offroading. dont wanna waste 100$ into a project to just have it die during next summer.
