So I'm putting a stock 4.88 diff in and I've pulled and stripped both diffs. I want to put the non-ADD axle on the new diff but my question is there is a gear right on the side of the third. Haven't ever seen a mention of this so wanted to see exactly how to remove it. Hoping it just pulls out but the luck i've been having so far, I didn't want to try without asking first.

I just did this exact swap it is extremely easy. Pm me and I can give you my # and tell you all about it. I did post a thread about it.
Not the CV axles but the little driver side stub axle that has the ADD actuator on it.

Yes the little stub pops out with a small pry bar. Then you add a new oil seal and the non add axel tube and bolts. Slide in the non add axel and give it a tap on the end and it snaps into place job done.
Finally got this all done this weekend. We are now rolling 4.88 vs the stock 4.10! :rockon:
For future reference, I found it easier to put a small punch or screwdriver through the opposite side axle opening of the diff and drive the gear out. With how low the gear sits, I was worried about marring up the sealing surface on the side of the diff with prying screw drivers. Just be carefull that you are on the gear stub and not internal piece of the diff or carrier bearing.
