Question Regarding Snorkel *OCD Disclaimer*

Recently, I have been tossing the idea of adding a snorkel to my truck for nothing more than cosmetic desire, which will probably categorize me as a poser. That's a-okay with me.

I will be buying an aftermarket fender, leaving the original fender alone.
For those of you who are curious to know why; If I ever choose to sell the 4Runner, I'd like to present it as a stock platform, hence why I am not modifying the original fender.

I have noticed for the install that you need to drill into the A-pillar for a support bracket. Can this step be safely omitted, or if not, is there any other way to support it without drilling? Thanks

I would use 3M automotive molding tape. Very strong stuff, but you can remove the residue after. Maybe wax the area you're intending on taping for future easy removal.

Why not just stick the entire snorkel on with tape on the original fender w/o cutting a thing since it's for idiotic posing purposes?

To answer your question, mxer, I'd like to still have the functional element of the snorkel, even though I will not be going out of my way to test it. I just simply don't care to. Deal with it.

Would it make you feel all warm and fuzzy if I told you I am planning to off-road it next week and I need the snorkel to alleviate the chance of hydolocking when I drove through the rio de janeiro?

I've always wondered this too. If you do go through with it let us know how the 3M tape works instead of drilling. Not sure that I would ever be able to put a snorkel on mine just because I don't like taking hole saws to my fenders, but if I had a replacement one to cut it would be different...
