Question?? Taking out as much carpet as possible/waterproofing Q's

I bedlined my little bed behind my seats on the 4runner a while back which helped a ton, but i want to get rid of the carpet at my floorbords where i drive and on the passenger side. I took off the carpet once to find that the foor was really jagged like the bed, and had that soundproofing foam stuff that was nearly molded to the floor. I was thinking of bedlining it but i figured the carpet helped hold the heat in and soundproof it to much to take it out. Anybody ever tried anything? Ideas? Pictures?

I did it on a 76 Bronco and I am preparing to do the same on the 89 Runner I just pick up. Took the interior out last night to get a look at what I had.

The Bronco did not have as much stuff on the floor as the Runner has. Also, about a year after I was did it we put a carpet kit back in. This really helped keep the heat out and the noise down. Its great now. The carpet comes right out and you can rinse/clean all you want. Plus since I POR 15ed it followed by Hurculiner, we don't have to worry about rust.

My plan with the Runner is to POR it, then put in sound deadening material and replace carpet in a way that is easily removed. Pulled the interior last night.

I saw on here where someone used dry ice to get out the factory sound material. Also saw where another used an air chisel and someone used a wire wheel. Id post the link to it but Im still trying to figure out the quirks on the "search" function.

PS- I wouldn't suggest going down this far with the paint. I learned a lesson doing this project. I decided to have the bed soda blasted. It worked great. I was really impressed, but it totally destroyed a lot of electrical and we are still finding soda material 6 years later. I would do it again in a heartbeat if the body was stripped and off but never again while on the frame with everything still installed.
