Question to admins about the general forum section

I'm starting to no difference between T4R General and off topic. :rant:

Theres literally a post about freedom in here, and NY gun laws, some bullsh1t called destruction from within (from the user saved: who has submitted multiple form of said bull feces) [yes, i just called him out]. Is this general section supposed to be general questions with "anything goes" about the TOYOTA 4RUNNER or a subforum where truly "Anything goes".

I see if it as if people want to discuss gun laws, caliber choices, carry types, holsters, corruption, terrorism, burning their hand in the oven, taking a dump, wiping their a$$, or anything else UNRELATED to the 4runner, then they are perfectly fine and allowed to do so: IN THE OFF TOPIC SECTION.

Now if people want to talk about or suggest how they carry WHILE INSIDE THEIR T4R, or portable restrooms they carry with their t4r, or how they cook eggs and bacon wrapped in foil in the engine bay, or using old cabin filters as emergency toilet paper, or how certain laws will effect their t4r then go ahead and post it in the 4RUNNER- GENERAL section.

Am i wrong?

Sorry man, I try to move threads to the off topic when I see them but my free time has been short lately. Hopefully some of the other mods can step in and help direct threads to the proper area.
 
Completely understand that you guys have lives as well, but its the users that are doing these things.

Just to get a bottom line down, this section serves as a general category concerning all generations of the 4runner and not a literal general section right?
 
You are correct. This sub forum is for general discussion related to the T4R that is not generation specific. I posted a sticky and a lot of people have read it but not a lot of people are abiding by it. All us mods can do is move the threads and hopefully people will catch on.
 
Perhaps this forum name should be changed to "General T4R Chat" or "General 4Runner Chat"

that should stop the random posting or at least cut it down a good deal. I know it's been mentioned in the improvement thread before.

How about moving the offtopic forum into a more prominent position? Nobody sees it down there, so it doesn't get used as much.
 
I'm not disagreeing with anyone here. I do think that the off topic section isn't used to its full advantage. Throw a suggestion in the thread in my signature. Maybe we can get [MENTION=5653]admin[/MENTION] to move the off-topic sub forum to the top?
 
I think the misleading thing with the general discussions thread is that it says "anything goes" under it. Can that be changed?
 
I've made 2 slight changes. Changed "General Discussion" description to remove "Anything goes". Moved off-topic forum higher in the list.

I don't want to remove "General Discussion" itself, since incoming links spidered by Google may stop working.

I assume you meant to have "central" under general discussion instead of "ceneral"
 
I think requiring For Sale posts to be posted in the For Sale section would help too.
People post their for sale stuff anywhere they want.
Same goes for Parts Wanted.
That's how it works on Toyota forums I Moderate on.
 
Some more thoughts -
Local BS threads don't belong in the General section.
There are location specific sub-forums for just that purpose.

And setting up wheeling trips don't belong there either, they they should be in the location specific sub-forums or maybe the Offroading forum.

Hi,

I'm bumping 3 threads that are site related but in the general section.

It was just implied to me that these threads do not belong here.

I honestly thought it was OK to talk about the site in /General/ and we do it all the time.

I think since we are going to have heavy modding we need a sticky with rules or something.
