Questions - 2010+ 4Runner - Slee StepSliders

I have a '17 TRDORP and am 99% sure I'll be adding a Bil 6112/5160 lift to it. I live in Denver and will most likely have Slee do the work. I saw that also have a slider available.

Something that made me nervous since I got TRDORP is the lack of rocker protection. Its not like feel I have to have it, but all it takes is one poorly placed and I can say good by to my rocker/door

I've been looking around at different options and I have found a lot of tub or tub-ish options. Never mind prices vary like the stock market.

Tubes always make me nervous. If they hit the incoming hostile object, great. If they miss or the object is long and pointy (with huge fangs and pointy teeth and will tear you to spreads .....), then I'll be on the side of trail say ... its just a flesh wound, come on, have at you. Even on my BMW R1200GS I have crash bars and head covers. Also I don't see exposed tubes sliding over things very well. I had sliders on my Wrangler Rubicon and they were solid as well.

The Slee Step Sliders for the 5th gen 4Runner is formed out of 3/16" steel. The sliders consist of a frame mount flange, three support legs per side and the main StepSlider.

The frame flange bolts directly to the frame utilizing existing holes in the frame. It also has three mounting fixtures welded to attach the legs. This ensures a solid mount without any compromise.

The slider body is formed out of 3/16" steel and functions as both a step and a slider.

There are two aluminum tread plates attached to the top surface of the slider body. These are only availabe in black. Tread plates have dimples that form a non-slip surface when wet. The slider body is cut with the same pattern as the tread plates to prevent dirt / ice build-up.

The sliders are finished with a gloss powder coat finish and supplied with all the necessary hardware for installation.

I really like the full enclosed slider that you actually slide over something with. The cost seems to be on par with any premium slider option out there. I do like they also have designed around the KDSS parts. Not sure that is noted on the site, but they talked about it when I was in the shop. There are spacers or washers to 'make' them fit around KDSS. They will also support the full weight of the T4R and can be used as jack points.

My only complaint, besides the price (I am still cheap at heart), is they are a full step. In my mind it would nice if they were narrower and hugged tighter into the body.

Does anyone have experience with these?

I've only seen a couple folks on here that had them and never seen them around town. The comments I saw were positive. Honestly though the shrockworks step sliders will give the same protection and can be had during a group buy for less. Just An opinion though... I always liked the way those looked and I need a step for short people.

I saw that they changed the finish on these to be a cool matte finish. Look way better than the original semi-gloss.

I'm in Denver and just put a set of Slees on my 18 TRDOR w/KDSS, if anyone in the area wants to see a set installed or has any questions.

In the winter almost all these sliders with a plate store slush like it's their job.

I have a monthly pass car wash that I religiously use and most of the time the chunks don't fall off they just turn blue with soap haha.

I have the RCI 5 degree sliders with the step plate and love them, but this guy likes the Slee. They don't have the kickout though like some other sliders including the RCI. He also said they are pretty difficult to install too. The guy on the video said they were 65 lbs each. Mine were 50 lbs passenger (KDSS side) and 60 lbs (driver).

How well do these work as a hi Lift Jack point?

I guess I don't see these providing any additional protection vs the OPOR sliders with the full top plate. (I have these) or any similar setup

What creates a 10# difference on the KDSS side? Is it less supported? If that's the case that does't seem ideal. My sliders are 75# a side

I agree about the Kickout. It's saved me a number of times

I've used them several times with a Hi-Lift...no issues (I do lay a pc. of rubber roofing to protect the finish, especially on the bottom)
