Questions from a new guy

Hey all,
Looks like I'll be getting a new Toyota as I want something with 4wd for when I move to college in the Appalachian mountains (woohoo!). Anyways I was wondering about the differences between the 4th gen limited and SR5 trim levels. Also, would it be hard to find a limited without XREAS? I plan on lifting it maybe 2-3" and I don't see the point in paying for it if I'll just have to disable it anyway. In addition, I've also never been off road before, but I really want to try it out. Not sure if that affects anything, but I would like to know if anybody has any knowledge of some easier trails around Charlotte, NC. I currently own a 1999 4runner with a 2.5" Daystar spacer lift, ES9000 shocks, and so forth.... but it's 2wd. So if there are trails or anything you could think of that my current 4runner might be capable of without getting stuck (don't know anybody with a winch or anything) or worse, then that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum from another Charlotte area member. Heading to App State? I love Boone.

So as far as difference in trim levels, it's mainly just bells and whistles. There is a wealth of knowledge here, so just do your research. Sites like the one I just linked, as well as using the "search" bar here on the the forum will be your best friends.

It shouldn't be hard to find a Limited without X-REAS, as that was an option on Limited's and Standard on Sport Editions. You may come across Limiteds with Rear Air Shocks as well.

As far as local trails for 2WDs, I don't really know of any. Your best bet is to know somebody with some land, which isn't really hard to find in this area.

Uwharrie National Park isnt too far from Charlotte. About 1.5hr. Lots of people there in 4wd vehicles. Everything from jeeps to atvs.
 
The thing I like most about the Limited is the leather seating. I'm not a fan of Toyota cloth seats because they stain easily and look ratty. I also think the color keyed bumpers and trim and silver roof rails and step rails look sharp.
