I was looking at 'Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4WD Trails (3rd Edition)' at Slee Off-road in Golden, CO. Overall the book looked nice, I'm concerned the copyright is from 2010. That is pushing 7+ years old. Things can change in that time, but at the same time things can stay the same.

What are people's recent experience with the book?

Anyone know if there is a newer version in the works?

I have that book, and I like it. In my view, books like that are great for winter reading, dreaming about places to go when the snow melts in the summer. It can also be a good resource while actually on the trail, but I'd supplement it with some more up-to-date info from the internet.

I use the following to plan, and while on, my trips:
- Books such as above
- Info from offroading sites such as traildamage.com
- Forest service map (purchase at FS office or outdoor shops)
- Motor Vehicle Use maps (free at FS office, shows you which roads are actually still in use)
- Forest service web site (for up-to-date road status and alerts)
- National Geo (Trails Illustrated) topos and GPS for actual navigation

Overall two thumbs up.

The 3rd edition is the newest one.

I normally hit Traildamage.com and my well loved Delorme atlas. I've also been doing a lot of planning on furkot.com.
