I'm trying to do the bushing replacement that I've seen in a few posts, but it seems to me that they all apply to the first/second generation Toyota trucks Does anyone know how close the shifter assy in a '99 4Runner is to the '92 in the following link?

Wow the job was easy - too easy... In fact, I am a bit concerned, cause I thought the small bushing on the ball at the end of the shifter assembly needed to "seat" somehow. Actually, I was trying to shove it in when the tranny was in 1st gear, i guess its all a learning experience and I finally figured out you have to "set" the assembly while in neutral.... My dilemma is I'm concerned I may have fatigued that small bushing. I noticed a very short hairline crack, if this bushing falls off will I still be able to shift, and would I be able to fish out the pieces again? Thanks!
