I’m selling a 2002 forerunner that last week before posting I checked the four-wheel-drive and engaged and locked in with no issues. Somebody took it on a test drive today came back said there’s an issue with the four-wheel-drive because the lights on the dashboard just kept blinking along with the orange circle in the middle and has not gone off yet. Could something have been unplugged or changed?

Try driving in figure 8's in a dirt lot while trying to engage it

... Could something have been unplugged or changed? ...

The test riders may have damaged the 4wd system by locking the center diff, driving in circles on a paved/cemented/otherwise hard surface. That'll do it for Sure!

Luck and enjoy somekind of Runner. :cowboy:

Same thing happened to me when test driving my rig.
I believe I tried to engage 4 low without being in neutral prior
to pushing that button.....I have to read up on that thing as you
have to be a rocket scientist to work the bugger. There was no
damage caused luckily.....

Could also check in the engine bay see if any small vacuum lines got disconnected on the drivers side, had that happen to me and it took me a while to figure it out pretty simple fix if that’s what it ends up being.

01/02 front diff is electrically actuated, not vacuum actuated.
