Quick Repair Question!

Hello everyone, I am currently changing out my Upper Ball Joints as well as Lower Ball Joints. I have my hub taken off and am wondering if there is anything else in this area in which I should change while I'm here.

Maybe my tie-rods or my tie-rod bushings, etc. Let me know people! I am going to wrap this job up tonight and hopefully get an alignment tomorrow.

Thanks for all suggestions.

I'd say just the outer tie rod ends and check your brakes. Maybe front sway bar bushings if you feel like it, if you see the need.

A write-up would be awsome with tons of pics if you have time. I need to do mine soon as well and would like to see a really detailed write up so I don't F-anything up! LOL.
Just basically wanna know the tools you used, where you got em if any specials were needed and where you got your parts as well.

How are your inner tie rods? Can you move it easily without much effort? If so then your inners are shot too. Don't worry about getting new clamps for the boots, I've had zip-ties holding mine on for the past year.

): I know you're new but there are SO MANY threads covering ball joint writeups and OTR replacement.

Use the google search above "3rd gen ball joint replacement" or DIY or something along those lines. The categorical search sucks.

downpour11: I will take pics of them and post pictures on this thread.

xhimsa12x: Like another said, there are awesome threads on various Toyota websites covering these repairs. I wish I could do a write-up but I'm afraid I do not have the time right now. I will however point you towards good threads:

UBJ Replacement:
R&R Upper and Lower Ball Joints - TTORA Forum

LBJ Replacement:
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/103217-lower-ball-joint-removal-installation.html

shadow247: My tie rods look pretty good. The bushings look like an old lady's butt. They are dry-rotted to death and currently at a bad angle. I might do them.

blizz86: Yupp. Sometimes the search function doesn't work but brianemc2_242 has a pretty good thread on how to properly search T4R.org.

Thanks everyone for a timely response!

Excellent, Thank you very much. I just put some brand new Nitto AT2's on all 4 and I can hear a light moan and groan with every hard turn. I know something needs to be replaced soon because sadly, my street queen has been severely neglected. My only wish is that I could have gotten to her sooner. Oh BTW, I have a 98 storm trooper in the making. it's a limited with exact same colors as your's but i'm going to experiment with painting trim black instead of silver.
