I already replaced it once about 90k ago and it looks like this one is on its way out. Ordered this one on carsteering.com.

Found one on amazon for $200 front Detroit Axle.

Any suggestions here?

OEM and you won't have to worry about it. A full rack and outer tie rods from camelback cost me just over 600. the rack itself with inner tie rods was around 500.

:iagree:

Sounds like a pain in the butt job, go OEM and you shouldn't have to worry about it again for another 200-300k miles. I trust good used parts over most anything aftermarket...Good luck, let us know how it works out

I've read a lot a rack threads in the few years I've been on T4R. The general consensus is that OEM is the way to go. Aftermarket/reman just don't last at all. As always, there are exceptions, and I've seen a guy or two say the aftermarket is fine. OEM is the only option I would even consider.

As everyone else, OEM. But I think we've already talked about this on Facebook, haven't we?:lol:

There's also that hyped up Safari LTD "it's better in every way than OEM but we have no proof" steering rack that was actually just a drop shipped AAE. Didn't look bad.

Safari LTD went out of business... I also have seen one of those racks completely split apart. There pictures somewhere in Dirtcos ifs build thread

Quit wasting money on cheap racks and pony up for a $500 OEM rack. All other will fail!

We have haha. But money is always the issue. 2.5 times the cost means 2.5 longer to save. With my Trip next month I worry it’ll be 2 months before I can get one. I guess I can just hope it lasts and if not go cheaper.

I agree with all the other members saying go with OEM. Just replaced mines and did the LCA's at the same time.
