Raptor Grill?

Raptor w/ Lights Behind the Grill...?

I don't guess this will work with the "behind the grill" light MOD? At least not with the mesh on the prototype. I just committed to buy one of the mounting brackets from SoCal, so it looks like I am out....Looks I will have to try my luck at the Santoshi.

Raptor Grill and projector headlights..... This should keep me content with the front of the vehicle until the next 6th gen.

I'll tell you what I want... what I really really want....
Any updates yet on the Raptor grill?

I am guessing it could be a long time before the 4runner version is created and shipped. He has a huge list of people that is making grills for over at Taco World. If I could source the lettering, I might try and make my own version.

So, I am ready to try doing this on my own, I think this grill is pretty cool.

I talked to Jerry at Bay Area Metal Fabricators. The "Raptor" style Toyota letters are $7.50 per letter, they are aluminum and they come unpainted. He does not have any in stock right now, he has issues with getting his materials right now but thought he would be back up and running in a few weeks. I asked him if we could get a discount with a group buy, he said definitely, he was not ready to do that math right now but he said if we got up around 50 he thought the discount would be substantial. He makes 100 at a time. So, I will post about doing a group buy and see how much interest there is in the next couple of weeks. I live half an hour away from his shop so I could pick up the order then do the individual shipping.

Jerry was pretty sure that the Tacoma forum guy just secures these with the 3M mounting tape, and that he has not had any problems.

This is a source I have found for the style of mesh I want. customcargrills.com - Perforated SS Aluminum Grill Mesh Sheets You can get it in black too. Anyone know of a cheaper source for this type of mesh? Also, anyone know what is available for covering the edges of the mesh for a better finish? The Tacoma guy has a nice finish on his edges.

Count me in for a GB or if that falls through i'll just buy the letters at normal pricing, $7.50 is cheaper then I thought it would be. Thanks for making some progress and sharing with us:hatsoff:

It just occurred to me it might be a good idea to confirm that our grills are comparable in size to the Taco grills and that the lettering will fit before ordering them. A very rare instance of me thinking ahead a bit. If you look at the Tacoma forum guys pics you will see it is a pretty tight fit. Anyone have access to an 05-11 Taco to confirm the grill diameter and height?

Found this company, Woodland Manufacturing , where you can design your own custom emblem. You can pick your own material, size, thickness, font and finish. Average about $100 for "TOYOTA" in 5" letters finished to your liking.

As for a group buy thru BAMF. I'd be leery of doing business with a metal fabrication business that has issues acquiring raw materials. This is usually an indicator of financial troubles.

I am glad you looked into it. For the grill portion of the build, are you going to do the bends on the top and bottom of the lettering? As for the 3M tape, I am going to get the materials raw, paint the backs, and tackle weld them on followed by getting it powder coated. I guess now I just need to figure out the bends.
