Raptor Grill?

FYI that HomerTaco has my OEM 5th Gen grille and I believe he just got the raptor grille back from powder coat. All that's left is for he and I to rendezvous for a fit check and then I can get some pics up....so stay tuned if interested

On the materials delay Jerry was rebuilding his truck and he gets his materials from his suppliers on his own, I don't think he was too broke to buy sheets of aluminum or anything, he seemed like a pretty straight shooter and said he has sold a lot of the letters to other guys on the Taco forum.

I would not do that bend in the grill, I would keep it flat.

That is cool that the HomerTaco guy is setting up a 5th Gen, that would definitely be a lot easier, I do see he has 115 people on his waitlist for Tacos though!

Found this company, Woodland Manufacturing , where you can design your own custom emblem. You can pick your own material, size, thickness, font and finish. Average about $100 for "TOYOTA" in 6" letters finished to your liking.

Almost twice as expensive as BAMF... but nice that you can add mounting options (at an additional $3 per letter)

Grille opening is around 7". 3" tall "Toyota" is $71.00 or so.

Right that's what I was thinking 3" at the most. I don't think the 6" ones quoted above would even come close to fitting.

Watching this thread and the original Satoshi thread closely. I plan to go with a modified Satoshi using letters as close to the TOYOTA style as possible. Here are a couple of photos to show the relative size of the letters to the grille opening. It's a quick and dirty mockup, but it may help with your choice.

This is 5" letters, using Arial Black

This is 4" letters, again with Arial Black. This is a good size for me.

What is material most like the original grille material - so I don't have to replace the lower grille?

5 inch letters not 5 letters ya goob

As you can see in your snip 6" letters are over 3 feet wide so won't fit and while more than BAMF you have a huge selection of fonts, sizes and finishes so you can customize a one off grill. Of course you'll need to already have a Grillcraft/Satoshi type grill.

This first one will go to Brian for being the guinea Pig...

I've only got two other sets of the letters in this size right now.

I've got to disassemble the prototype to template it and then order more mesh.

Going to be several weeks at least until I can start a Group Buy on TW.
