So over the weekend me and my friend rhino lined the bumpers. Our pro car auto body friend told us to 120 grid sand the bumpers. So we did that, we sanded the rust of the back and used rust reformer on the back. Then used this product called RAPTOR. It's like rhino Berliner but pro quality. We used it with a hardarner. Here's the outcome, also did the plastic bottom piece.

Very happy. Turned out awesome. But then again we had proper tools to spray it on. Feels very durable, looks shiny looks natural! Since we used a hardanrer, like we mixed some in a bottle it should hold up very good. I should of did the back spoiler that goes over the back light also but I completely forgot about. I highly recommend this as now I don't have to polish the chrome, I don't have to spend thousands on a arb bumper, its nice project and if you take your time it comes out good.

This is the stuff we used, expect our was a screw on bottle , that crews on a spray gun.

BECAUSE RE SANDING IT AND RE PAINTING IS TO MUCH AND WAIST OF MONEY.

WITH A PAD LIKE THIS. JUST A GOOD TIP. BECAUSE WE DID THAT ON THE WHOLE PLASTIC BUMPER AND THANK GOD WE FIXED IT. CAN'T EVEN TELL.

Also if you use harderner, you must use all of the spray because if you don't it will harden in the bottle and be useless

Good to hear! Yeah I know it will be some time before I get an aftermarket bumper and saw another member who used silver liner to color match the body paneling and oem bumper so I may go that way although the black looks sweet. Great job!

If your going to try to match the paint. Better get the right color code and mix it properley..... I want to rhino the rear spoiler and the rear license plate plastic piece since it's all faded.... I think it would look nice to. U know ?

Raptor is great stuff. I used it on my Jeep (did the interior and hard top). It still looked brand new about 2 years later (sold the wrangler). Some people had complaints about the "flexibility" of Raptor, but I never had an issue. Plus, if you hit something with your bumper, cracking the liner is the least of the concerns.

Anyway, I like what you did with the bumpers. My T4R is due for a paint job (factory paint is pretty much toast), so I may do my bumpers like this when I repaint. Were your bumpers "chrome" or black to start with?

For those that dont know, you can also buy Raptor in a tintable version so you can make it whatever color you want.

On some of my projects with raptor liner I reduced the amount of hardner I mixed in to see if that made it more flexible. It seemed to work but I didn't have a side by side comparison....raptor has been around for awhile and the first projects I did with the suggested amount of hardner were long gone to test against the new.

Original bumpers were chrome. Used 120 grid sand paper to creat scratches and cleaned up the rust behind the bumper and used rust reformer on the back side. To remove ALL of the chrome is a lot of work and so creating scratches/making the chrome not shine is enough for new paint to grip. That's what my buddy that works as a auto body person said. And let it dry out for at least 24 hours. So far so good. Dirt wipes of clean!! I did take it to a car wash right after I painted it next day and everything was good. Just remember if you use a harderner, USE ALL OF THE RAPTOR, or it will go to waste. Also if you mess up, relax and try and recreate the texture with scotch brite pad. I don't know if you can tell, but the whole bottom plastic piece we layed the scotch brite pad very lightly and lifted it up. Really came out like it was sprayed on. Can't even tell it was fixed.

I know this is a old thread but im considering putting bedliner on my 4rn alomg the wheel arches and bottom of the doors. How many cans will it use?

Is it holding up? It take about 7 litres to do (a can is 1 litre) a whole 4runner to do rocker panels probably 1 maybe 2 for your arches

I’m going to pull a bumper off a truck tomorrow to replace my rusted bumper on my 02 sport edition. Thinking about raptor lining the rear bumper in black- how many bottles should I buy? Thanks.
