Re-gearing for 2.5 lift and 285's

Makes a little more sense.

I did notice that when using cruise control above 70 it does wander back and forth a little between 4th and 5th.

I'll check my speedometer later today.

How would re gearing actually improve MPG's though? I figured the RPMs would be higher cruising above 70mph in 5th??

The re-gear is making it easier for the engine to rotate the larger tires and running at lower RPM's subsequently. What RPM's were you running at 70 mph before you added the 34's?

For me, drive-ability, performance and MPG improved. However, it wasn't life altering. I do feel it made the rig more tolerable and fun to drive again. On road and off.

When I or the 4runner feels the need to regear we downshift.
The transmission is a temporary regear.
