Hey guys,
Ive owned my 2014 for years now and I am constantly wondering if I made the best choices as far as suspension. The problem I have and probably many others have is in the details.

I mean a shock is a shock is a shock (to a degree)
*I know there are differences in valving and construction materials, but other than that....these are pretty simple functioning items. Yet there are sooo many choices for a huge difference in pricing.

So what I hope to get in this thread is real data as far as what each product offers. *W/O KDSS

why do you put the data together yourself? take the major players and list their equipment by size/stroke/reservoirs/valving/materials/etc/options/etc/etc and see what you get? i'd expect you to see a pretty straightforward trend, with some price variation by brand (which probably also includes other data harder to differentiate by that the box says on the outside).

SO I just spent my lunch hour googling the shiz out of the Bilstein options to see what kind of details I could get and all I could come up with was: (pic)


These kind of details are what I want, but I also want some kind of performance specs of some kind if possible. Its crazy that this is all I can find so far.

I am a little confused on what exactly you are after here.

What is the primary purpose of the vehicle?

Are our rock climbing? Desert roads? Trails? Dirt/gravel roads? City cruiser?

There is no one perfect suspension setup. You just need to be very honest with what you actually need from the suspension and find what works best for that.

Yup, What Im after is a nice comparison guide that many can use to determine what is right for them with an easy to compare guide. That way they should be able to fit their needs and decide between MFGs and Models and Styles.

Im doing this for myself as well, as I know what I want out of my suspension but EVERY REP tells me theirs is the best without any info to back it up. Plus since the advent of the internet people opinions are like butts (everyone has one) In my experience these opinions are based off of weak information. For example everyone has a favorite set up...but very few have tried more than 1 other set up then stock....so is that opinion worth anything? Also everyone does different things with their runner...and well, that setup could be good for them but bad for me....so this is my only way to make a educated decision on my 2nd (non stock) setup.

They are a company out of Tucson,AZ. the owner was one of the top designers for Fox or king I don't remember. He opened his own business. They use the same internals in 2.5 shocks that they use in their racing shocks. It's my understanding that neither Fox or King do this. They also coat the shocks, which help tremendously in keeping them protected from the elements.

Good job OP! what a fantastic thread you just posted. This’s going to be beneficial for all of us.
The thing is most high end parts users have only tried one to two brands,therefore,they tend to swear by it and their feedback wont be convincible enough.

I believe Dobinsons has more spring options than any other manufacturer. Also Wheelers Off-road is another.
