Wanted to just bring this back to the top to make sure there is no one in line to get a tool loaned to them. Please post here and let us know :mullet:

New member here, I must say it’s refreshing to see good folks still around and willing to pay it forward helping others out. weekendclimber, salute to you sir. Glad to see that it’s been moving along smoothly although I haven’t been able to read through all 7 pages. With me being a new member, not sure if I’d be allowed to join in on the rotation, but I’d be more than appreciative if so. Working on clearing up a few issues on my 07 Tacoma before I let my daughter have it for her first vehicle. I cant stomach letting a shop take me for that much to change out something I can do. Please let me know if you’d entertain letting me borrow. And if so, do you know if it’s compatible with the Tacoma. Everything I’ve found, it seems like it will work. Thanks for your time!

Thank you for the kind words. :guitar3:

I believe it is ptsailing that currently has the loaner tool. That's the one that I've leant out to the universe since I've got a second for myself (which I hope I don't have to use again for a long time). I know there was one other gent that had offered his as well.

I second that emotion....it's very refreshing to see that people are basically good and honest and want to help others. This board is full of members like weekendclimber who put the time and some skin in the game to make this community what it is!

I do have the tool....it makes this job very easy. I got one side done last week before I had to leave for a week long work trip. I'll be back next Tuesday (6/8) and should be able to have it in the mail by the end of the week.

Man you guys are great. ptsailing, by all means take your time. I need to figure out what all parts I will need and get the axles out. Not sure if you’re up for it, but I can PM you my number and let you know when I’m ready. I’m still in awe that I literally came across this post. I just have a hard time with particular jobs like this that without fabrication skills, you have to drop 2-3 hundo just to do the damn job. :) cheers again to you both. I need to get it in gear. If someone jumps in front of me, by all means let it rip. I’ll catch it after them. I don’t want to hold anyone up.

Make sure to check out mtbtim and infamousRNR's video on this job if you haven't already. I've also got a video on my Youtube for doing it. It lists all the parts and goes through the process of doing all the press work.

Go ahead and PM when ready.

Don't be intimidated by this job.....it's pretty simple really. There is A TON of info on it. weekendclimber and mtbtim both did great videos on how its done step by step. There is also an entire "official rear axle seal" thread with a write up of the process and exactly what part numbers you need.

I replaced $20 per side worth of seals and re used the abs ring and retainers and c clips. This repair can be done cheaper than an oil change just about. Don't let it stop you....it's really quite simple.

ptsailing. Took me a min to get back to you. I’m ready when you are and sent you a PM. Hope you guys are well.

Got your pm....sent you a text. Let me know if you got it

Got it! All good. Tool is on its way to you!

Thank you again to weekendclimber for providing the tool and the key information to help make this repair go so smoothly!

Well unless I’m looking in the wrong spot, I was worried when I logged in, there would be a line of folks wondering where the hell I went with your tool weekendclimber…First, I second what ptsailing said. Thank You!!! Couldn’t have been any easier to do the job…

I can ship the tool wherever it needs to go, just let me know….hope I haven’t pissed anyone off. I cleaned up my shop and really just forgot about it.

You're welcome. Glad that it's out there helping folks wrench on their rigs!

Cheers

Picked up a manual 1999 1-owner recently. Did a more in depth inspection of the vehicle today and found my driver side seal is leaking.

This is a great idea to have the loaner program! I'd like to get in the queue if possible!

derekmcguckin - I hope you are still in need. This was my only fear as I’m not an everyday thread reader and tend to forget to check but I have the tool and you are more than welcome to it. I was great full for weekendclimber doing such a generous deed when I was in need. Anyhow, private message me and we can work it out. I’ve set a reminder in my phone to check this every Monday. Hope it’s not to late.
