Rear brake line extension

Who is running the rear brake line extension? Got Toytec Ultimate and about to do a 1" body lift, just don't want to rip a brake line on the trail.

It's actually pretty useless. There's plenty of slack in the line when you flex out your suspension.
The only time the line is stressed is when you have the whole axle droop, lke if you were to have the truck on a lift. But even then, you can bend the tab down and call it a day.

I had to get one after I saw how close mine was to breaking under flex and that was before 1.5 spacers in the rear. I put spacers and the new extended line in at the same time.

Its not a requirement to do at 3 inches as there is enough slack in the line. If you go more than 3 inch or if you want a stronger line, its definitely not a bad idea. Also, the body lift won't make a difference since the line is mounted to the frame

some say you can bend the bracket over a little bit to give you a little more slack.

I was wondering about that cause I noticed there is Hard lines on the top of frame. (ganite I didn't see what the other end looked like) but would think the metal hard line might bend/break if its hard at both ends.

I popped the retainer clip out of mine and pulled a little slack out of the hard line and left it at that, I still have a slight amount of play when I put it on the lift.

Keep an eye on that- that retainer clip is meant to keep the bounce and vibration of the axle in the rubber line because if it transfers to the line it could break after time. Same idea as the hard brake line that bolts in just behind the caliper- I've seen so many of those broken so people just let it hang and then the line brakes and WATCHOUT no brakes!

Yeah I though about that when I did it so I've been keeping an eye on it but I haven't seen any signs of extra wear but I guess I won't see it until its too late :lookout:
