Rear control arm bushings

I've been searching around google a bit but haven't really found anything. Is it possible to change out the bushings on the rear upper and lower control arms or do you have to change the entire arm? I noticed mine in the rear were looking pretty worn when I was under it yesterday, and at least one of the uppers is busted (I can almost see through part of it).

Yes you can buy the kit from Energy Suspension for the two lower arms and the two uppers about 80 bucks I believe. Honestly if you have the funds, buy new sets of arms, they are much stronger than the stock ones.

He is correct It's 80 bucks for bushing set and you definitely need some funds for new arms...I believe also [MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION] makes some beefy arms and panhard bars as well. Maybe check with him and his pricing for pkg deal to save some cash, dunno.

Thanks. New arms aren't in the budget unfortunately after the new shocks and springs.

I'll check out the bushing set. Hopefully they aren't too hard to press out and back in.

Oh? Please do share that info. I was looking at after market arms and they aren't too bad, but I don't feel like spending another 600 after I just redid my rear end springs and shocks. 80 for bushings is much cheaper although it looks like a pain to press the new ones in, still looking for how-tos.

Ya I don't find it economical or easier to replace the bushing when the complete unit is cheaper. Lol. I replaced my lca's for cheaper than the bushings only this way too.
Replacing the bushing is a *****. You have to press then out, sometimes heat them with a torch. If you want a stronger arm do what [MENTION=88231]having fun[/MENTION] did and weld a c channel down the length of the arm.
Log onto rockauto and punch in your vehicle info. You won't find a cheaper parts store.

I always cross reference rockauto with everything else just to check. They are same parts as anywhere else, but they basically take overstock and such items off warehouses hands for cheap.

Thanks for the mention there Tony. I actually welded a 3/4" angle iron 3/16" thick on the bottom and a 1/4" thick flat stock on top. They turned out to be pretty strong as I have in a way used them as a slider, not by choice.

I might have to look into them poly bushings myself. Pretty easy to change out.

I know! I need to stop hanging out with the So Cal T4R guys. Every run I've been on I've done something harder than I've tried before and it makes me want to spend more money to upgrade. It's killing me.

Even bombing through the desert or back trails can potentially bend those wimpy stock arms. Lol I can't believe I haven't bent kine, although my bushings are looking rough. Another part of my list...

Only ones I run with up here are these monster gen 3s and Tacoma's. They are trying to kill my ride. My scrap steel supply is running out finding places to weld them on to save it.

Edit... I got the idea on the arm from one of the gen3 guys. There arms are a lot smaller than ours.

Give me a year when I sell the Tacoma, buy a condo, and pick up a 4 cyl to DD, then I can start running trails I have no right to be on.

When you put a lot of heat to the arms so the bushings start separating all around them, pull and twist them out with pliers. Hardly any clean up afterwards.

Hey guys quick question on the lower control arms, I just spent quite a bit on my off road stuff do i need to purchase the lower control arms for the front I did purchase the front lower control arm skid plates for my 03 4runner
