rear diff install?

hello new guy here
I bought my runner as a suv for my wife but on a recent trip to mexico,I decided to really check out the off roading capability's I was impressed! this thing in 4 low can crawl up all kinds of stuff.
I Just recently sold my 95 TT supra in favor of a house and I decided to"steal the runner from the wife". Now i got the off roading bug.

The only bad thing about my runner is that it has no rear locker!!
I would really appreciate any help on how i can get one used and get low priced install in my area 91764

If you guys need stereo help and wiring help i can help with that. I manage a car audio shop in he area and that is my way to help you guys out

I too have wondered about adding a locker, preferably an e-locker, maybe a stock one. What is required to do this, must you swap the entire axle or just the 3rd?
(sorry don't mean to hijack)
 
yotatech has a few members that have done the swap.

<96 Runner> over there has done it and if you PM him I think he has a link to a swap or at least he can give you all the pertinent information.
 
ok so i bought my e locker finally found one . its a 2001 tacoma unit. Now I need installation. I can do the wiring part but i need some one that can do the install.
please help!
 
well what did you buy, did you buy the 3rd or did you buy the whole axle. if you bought the third you will have to modify the case. if you check out yotatech.com there are some great write up's. basically you will have dent out a place on the case and then bolt it in...oh and cut the actual hole bigger and to the right shape to accomidate the locker. goodluck keep us posted, i'll see if i can't find a write up for ya.
