Rear Diff question

I recently bought a 2000 T4R SR5 4x4 w/electronic locking rear diff. 4:30 ratio. I got it on the cheap to use as a daily driver. I soon found out that it had problems with rear diff due to no power going to pass. side wheel. I dropped the third member out to investigate... I found that the pass. side spider gear that receives the 30 spline axle is broken. Salvage is the first place ive started looking, but am mostly finding non locking; 4x2; wrong ratio etc. I would just replace the spider gears, but from the dealer they cost around $500. Other issue is the housing that holds spider gear was compromised too. Its $428. New fully assembled pumkin is $1750 :tsk: Seems like all aftermarket venues dont offer aftermarket diff. with elec. locking option. Long story short ive found this.

All specs seem to match up; 8 inch, 30 spline; 10 bolt etc. All id have to do is bolt my ring gear to it. Tech i spoke with at summit didnt know if it would fit in housing or not. Of course id not have a elec locker anymore, and would have to do some minor fabrication where actuator for locking mech is. To me it seem like a limited slip aftermarket thats stronger than factory for $550 isnt a bad option. Thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I've not torn into a Toyota diff, but the spider gears are generally not associated with 2wd vs 4wd or gear ratio.

I have a 4.10 diff sitting in the garage that's in great shape. Came out of my 4x4. Spider gears and the housing should be the same. If you're interested pm me and we can swap pics and talk more.

If you don't work something out with someone here, call East Coast Gear Supply they are usually very informative with good prices .
