Rear driver side ABS speed sensor swap and now problems

Replaced the right rear ABS speed sensor as well as the O2 upstream sensor (the downstream is on tight) on my '02 'runner and now when I hit the brakes, they catch at first and then release while I hear what sounds like a grinding sound that appears to be electrical (computer) of some sort. I am assuming ABS as this doesn't happen until I apply the brakes harder to come to a stop and then what I think is a ECU reset on the ABS. Any ideas on this? Everything was working fine before and just had the dash lights on.

The ABS sensor you installed is not reading correctly, tricking the ABS computer into thinking that wheel is locked and triggering skid control. The speed sensor is dirty, bad, or most likely, not seated fully in the axle housing.

Good Suggestions - might also check the tone ring to make sure that the notches are clean and intact.

This sounds logical... I seated the sensor in as best as I could and then started the screw and finished it that way. I guess I'll back that screw out and reset that sensor all the way in as best I can before setting the screw. I'll check the sensor and make sure it isn't dirty either (unlikely tho).
Thanks for the advice, I'll update this tonight when I get that done.

Wish I had done this while I still lived in Lexington, I would have just had you come over and give me a hand ;) but I unfortunately moved to Michigan, lol
