Rear facing Diono Radian RXT....arrggghh!

Is it just me or is it pretty much impossible, even with the angle adjuster to have that car seat in rear facing mode?

Just went to test drive an '18 Limited and I couldn't sit in the front seat with the Diono in rear facing mode....And I'm only 6'..

Mind you, the '14 Corolla has more leg room on paper in the 2nd row...

6'2" here. My kid's rear-facer had to to go in the middle. No rear facer will fit behind me and still permit me to drive safely. Oh, and I have twins coming. Shit.

I put my car seat behind the passenger and just put a sign up saying that you may not adjust the seat.

We have used these same car seats since our girls were old enough to transition to a convertible. They are very tall for sure. I had them rear facing in my previous truck, Xterra, and with using the foam pad seat angle adjuster had enough room for me at 5'8".

We have twins so both sides were taken.

The 4Runner has a good bit more room in the second row than the Xterra so I'm surprised you don't have enough space, then again I have never had them rear facing in the 4Runner. They were forward facing before I got it.

These are very good, sturdy car seats but a major PITA to install and heavy as hell. It really sucks having to install two every time we need to move them. I can't wait to be done with them but our girls are still in them at 7 years old. They were premies so they have a ways to go before outgrowing the height/weight limit.

You could always get another shorter brand for rear facing and save these for forward.

I'm 6' and was easily able to get the rear facing seat behind me. I have 3rd row so the 2nd row seats slide forward/backward. Maybe that's the difference?

Same here. Also OP it will depend on how high up you have your front seat (not necessarily how far back), I had no issues with the rear facing Diono for 2 years with angle adjuster (5’10”) but I also have the 3rd Row. Now that both my kids are front facing (7 and 4) it is awesome to have the low profile seats in terms of width.

All rear facing car seats take up a ridiculous amount of space. I have a Diono and the foam pad definitely helps and would highly recommend using it. Once they are forward facing the Diono seats are narrower than most so make riding middle not so bad. My other car seats are also terrible rear facing if its worth anything and I use 3 different types.

my daughters seat is the in the middle. I am about 6’2 and I highly doubt I could put her behind me. Maybe some rear facing are smaller than others so that might help. I don’t mind her being in the middle anyways when family visit they want to be next to my daughter anyways so it works out she is in the middle. The thing I hate about her being in the middle is the way the anchor points. It makes it hard for person on the passenger side rear to buckle and it is also hard to buckle my daughter to into buckle as well because her seat pretty much sits on top of it. I might get an extender to see if that makes it easier.

I'm 6'4 and have twins in the back bench seat. My 5'10 wife even squeezes into the middle to ride with them. Make sure to recline the top of the rear bench seat as far as it will go. Since the car-seats are facing rear, the latch system still works with no issues. It's kind of amazing how much more room this creates for the car-seat bottoms.

My complaint has always been lack of head room, lol. The damn seat does not go "down" enough on the frame.
