I originally posted this in the "What did you do to your 3rd gen" thread, but soon realized it would be hard for anyone to ask a question since that thread grows so quick. Plus finding the information later would be tough.
I installed a set of 2.5" Fox hydraulic bump stops recently, while it was down for front wheel bearings and TC spindle gussets. You can definitely feel when the bump strikes the contact pad. I started at 200 PSI in the bump, but after a quick test I'll probably drop them down to ~160 PSI.
First, I cut off the old bump pads and notched the frame. I kept a slight angle on the bump that matched the angle the factory bump stop had. It was ~85 degrees if anyone finds that information useful.
The articulation feels good, I was worried with the added compression that it may not perform as well. The old bumps were pretty soft and easily compressed under any load. I think it may have helped slightly. Seems as though the articulation was controlled a little better. It's hard for me to explain.
Okay, enough of the boring stuff. On to the pictures.
