Rear shock question (already read the lift FAQ)

Okay, so I read through the FAQ lift thread and googled a lot and dont believe this has really been answered, but if so sorry. I know that when adding lifted rear springs (LC coils, OME, whatever around 2-3 inches of lift) people often replace rear shocks with OEM LC Rear shocks because they are more in their comfortable range. If I were to use rear coil spacers (2 inch maybe) would I be able to replace the rear shocks with the longer LC shocks for a slightly more dampened ride over just spacers on stock shocks? For the front I will probably be running tundra Billy 5100s with OEM coils for now then upgrading to longer fronts.

Also, In the front:
I know that adjustable tundra 5100s with stock springs can be put on a higher perch for like 2 inches of lift if you want. If i were to get 2000-2006 tundra front struts (Just strut, kyb non adjustable) And put oem coils on them would that net any lift or no? Somebody told me that with a cheap ebay strut and coil spring assembly off ebay meant for a 2000-2006 tundra gave him a 2.5 inch lift in the front. Anybody know what the deal is with this?

I don't see why not. However, you could also pick up a pair of lc7 wraps or used ome coils that will give you around the same amount of lift for slightly more $$$ (probably around $75-125 range). I picked up a pair of 8 wraps for $75 on craigslist.

For all the work involved in trying to put in rear spacers, why wouldn't you just get new coils? The 7.5 wrap LC's are pretty nice paired with the 5100 billies.

I had this exact setup in the back. I actually just took off the lc shocks and replaced them with oem. I am running 99 coils with 1.5" spacers. If you want lc shocks, I'll sell you mine for cheap. They have around 60k easy miles on them. I can tell you they will make the rear end stiffer, as they are valves for the heavier land cruiser.

Shocks don't know if the additional distance between the upper and lower mounts are because of longer coils or spacers, so yes, you can use the same springs that people use with lift springs. It won't make a bit of difference to how the shocks work.

My setup is 99 Tall Coils, 1.5" Rear Daystar Spacer with LC Shocks and Airlift Helper Bags.

I would not hesitate to recommend this setup to anyone. I would not recommend 7 wrap rear springs at all. They just give too much lift, and are way to soft for the rear of our trucks. I know I will get flamed for this, but even with the adjustable panhard bar, my truck rode like complete ass in the rear. Since I went back to the 99 springs with spacers, I only lost about 1.5" of rear lift, but the ride is so much smoother.
