Rear window goes down by itself (?!)

Sometimes my '99 4Runner's rear window will go down by itself. One morning, I came outside and found it open, perhaps all night. Yesterday, I parked it near me and when I came back to it the back window was open.

I don't think it's the fob in my pocket because the window won't open when I press the fob/window button.

Does anyone know why the back window would open on its own? (I searched the forum and didn't find a solution.) Thanks in advance!

Maybe it's your remote it might be sticking it's happened to me with the door locks.

Does it beep before it rolls down? Thats probably remote related.

If not it may be a short or something to do with the dash/console switch.

Have you seen it roll down by it self? You might have someone playing games with you. Kids playing with the keys or what not.

The other possibility is rear hatch key switch. It might be corroded and cause the issue during days of high humidity.

The rear switch is the only circuit that is live all the time. the inside switch is only live during time the ignition is on.

I don't think the window button is stuck. I also doubt it beeps when it rolls down since I was standing nearby when it did and I didn't hear anything, though I can't be absolutely sure.

Although someone might want to play tricks on me I doubt that's what it is, mainly because it's happened in two different places; downtown and in my driveway. They'd have to follow me around to play a trick. Kids are too busy looking into their iphones to do that sh*t. I also wondered if someone's fob is programmed similar to mine but the odds are very slim there, too.

The rear hatch key switch makes the most sense. Thanks, Singtoe, and everyone else for your suggestions! Anyone have experience repairing the rear hatch key switch? Also, the key doesn't work in the back; doesn't turn at all. Suggestions much appreciated.

And, finally, what's up with cheryl.blas repeating what others are saying? Is she/he/it a spamming robot? (No offense Cheryl! Just saying... use your own words.)
