rear window lacks omph...

Everything is clean and lubricated. without the motor it works freely and easily. The motor just seems to lack the power to roll the window all the way up or all the way down...

Took the motor apart and cleaned the winding and the brushes and lubricated the bushings and the worm gear assembly...

Anybody ever run into this?

I have run into that before, still haven't fixed it but for a test I hooked it straight up to my battery via jumper cables and it hauled ass both up and down. In my case I am suspecting the wiring, too much resistance maybe..

My 97 does the same thing.... it had plenty of up and down when i took her off the lot , but now it just takes it time... it's old... and besides i hate the "window" roll sound that toyos make when they get old..like an old olds or buick..

Uh yeah, never mind..... "charge the battery." Jumps up like frogs from a dynamite pond.

I'm liking your test. I think I'm going to check the wiring and ground.

mine goes down with ease, but unless the engine is running, wont go up all the way..... and isnt as fast either way

After cleaning the motor and new battery the window charges up and down. ^&&%^$regulator has a broken tooth and the window stop an inch from the top! CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK!!!!!! grrrr.

So you charged your battery and it fixed it? As far as I know, my battery is in great shape (its under 1 year old). But when I roll the window up, it will be generally sluggish and sometimes need a little help raising all the way.

I have yet to take it motor apart and clean it all , but I might try replacing the wiring first... sounds easier.

Ideas?

My window is slow as well, despite lubing the pivot points, channel and guides, and using electrical contact cleaner on the motor and contacts in the tailgate.

Is there are relay near the back on the driver's side that could go bad? My rear window was working fine, but now it's working itermintently. I hear a clisk near the back when I use the key in the tailgate. I'm glad it was in the UP position when it decided to quit this last time.

Any ideas?

relay is just in front of the driver side REAR seat belt behind the panel. There are also safety switches that can go bad. You can test them by simply unplugging them

yeah, mine would operate slow at best (when at all). I pulled the switch out of the console and cleaned the connections to the switch and also cleaned the switch. Plugged it all back up and good to go. The area is prone to spills and food, stuff...... I have excessive resistance in the switch, but I cleaned the connector and pins while I had it out. Be careful as it does not have pinch protection... lol.
