Rear Window Rack MOLLE

New Rack is awesome!

over the past few weeks I was working with Darrel to come up with a solution for the 4runners that only have a single coat hook. and I've got the finished product and I think its the best rack of them all. It really fits the contour of the D-pillar and best of all, it now has 3 hard mounting points in addition to one standoff. so without any more Delay here it is:

And here it is with my Gear mounted on it:

I don't suppose it would work with the cargo cover does it?

I have a 2004 and really want one of these. Has the manufacturer tweaked the product well enough for a solid fit/installation (driver side), without modification for this vehicle yet? With modification?

Meanwhile, I went out and pulled the hook cover to expose the bolt, and the cap broke off...

As far as I know if you have a 4th gen with a single coat hook and order one this is what you will end up getting. I ended up being the guinea pig since Darrel at Orange box couldn't get his hands on a 4th gen with a single coat hook around him. I used a laser cutter to prototype it out of wood, to get the fit perfect. The only issue that I had when he sent me the rack was that the coat hook piece wasn't bent to the right angle. I was able to put it in a vice and correct the angle and I emailed him what needed to be changed and he said he would fix for future racks.

I can't begin to say how awesome and determined to make a good product and I was across the country.

As for solid fit, with the new standoff, its awesome I've got my Ax on it as you can see.

And yes I'm using quick fist clamps. Amazon has an 8 piece kit that is 2 large clamps, 4 regular sized and 2 small.

Regarding the shape, I see your's is cut out around the mirror. My vehicle doesn't have the mirror. Do you know whether that is the only shape available for the early gen 4?

Do you have a 3rd row seat? or do you have a later model that has the double coat hook instead of the single coat hook?

Weird! I had no idea that they god rid of the mirrors. I love them! They are so useful!!! It looks like the speaker that they put there is the same shape. So I bet it fits. If it doesn't Darrel will make it right, he was awesome to work with!
Edit: just realized you have an 04... Is it that they added the mirrors in 05?

So I just installed mine. Its a great idea, but the mounting engineering leaves a lot to be desired. For the price it should be much better. The top brace that attaches to the coat hanger was not bent at the correct angle so I had to bend it to fit, hopefully I didn't damage the weld. Then the bottom forward arm was at the wrong angle so I had to pull down on the rack while it was mounted to the top, bending the top brace even further. The rear brace doesn't do much in the way of support so I cut about a half inch off, drilled the hole all the way thru, and drilled a hole in the lower side panel of the 4r. Then I purchased a 4" bolt and nut to secure the brace to the side panel. Much better now, but for $150 bucks that shouldn't be necessary in my opinion.

I should have bought one for the other side as well. It's been awhile, I will contact the disturber tomorrow and see if he is willing to do another groubuy. I'm not sure if he will do as good as deal as last time. But it's worth shot. Haha. If he gives it a green light I'll edit the first page for new instructions, timing, and pricing.
