The weather stripping is in two parts. The part that is black and still shines is about $100. The glass scraper part # 68290A which looks faded in your picture is about $20. I replaced my scraper. It took all of about 4 mins. It pulls out and snaps back in.

I found this older thread....I need to replace the entire bottom rubber seal (that sits on the body of rear hatch lid) and scraper (sits against rear window) ...can you recommend a site for the parts. I have an 07 SR5. Thanks!

The part you're seeking is the exterior "Belt Weather Strip" , the same part referenced in the other topic you posted in yesterday, but you were asking about the inner strip not the outside strip, here's a link to the parts list that has the outer belt/strip, number 3 on the list and diagram, part number

If you decide you need the inner belt which will do nothing as far as keeping water out, it's number 4 on this parts list and diagram.

I had a little trouble getting the old one off. Removing the clips first seemed to help. Also, after a I finally pried one side up, it all lifted out pretty easily.

But I notice the new one seems to be thinner and there is now a slight gap between the outer portion and the rear window wiper housing. Doesn’t seem to be an issue, but the original was flush. Perhaps I bought one for a newer model. I have an 06 SR5.

You need to replace both the outer seal and the inner brush strip if you dont want the space. I ordered the following from amazon and used it to replace the inner that goes behind the window. Replacing both makes the seal tight and keeps more water out of your tailgate.

I don’t see how replacing the inner strip will effect the gap. The outer strip is flush and firm against the rear glass. The gap is on the exterior. You may be right, but as long as the new one works I won’t worry about it.
You may just have it on wrong causing the gap. I done the same exact thing. I couldn't remember if maybe the gap had always been there or not. I then looked at some other 4runners and no gap and I saw what I done wrong. The piece of rubber that is causing the gap you probably have it on the inside of the molding. It goes on the outside where your gap is now. It looks like the molding should fit in the slot between the two pieces but it doesn't. It goes on the outside.
So I replaced this lower/outside strip on a 2004 4runner hatch and most of leaking stopped...however, still getting small amount coming through a couple of the plastic hatch cover snap holes - now granted the hatch cover was off, the threshold cover off to allow carpet drying AND there is no moisture barrier in this hatch? Help....

I just cut a moisture barrier out of thick plastic sheeting from Lowe's. Correction: I used Second Skin Butyl Sealant Tape - Butyl Rubber Sealant and Multi-Purpose Butyl Rope for All Vehicles (Car, RV, Marine) - 1/4" x 1/2" x 20'
