Rear wiper arm woes

Rear wiper blade wasn't hitting properly so I investigated and ended up breaking the plastic mounting ring on the arm. Ordered a new one on eBay, went to install the pretty new arm and the rusted-on nut broke off- taking the end of the stud with it.

Question is, do I need to replace the entire motor assembly to mount this or if I remove it is there a way to replace the piece i snapped off with the nut?

Ouch. I found this thread but the bad news is sounds/looks like you need to either try to drill and tap that rusty mess for a new bolt, or replace it. The forum comes through again!

I bet there are some aftermarket/generic ones that'll work fine (if not better) and be cheaper.

Mine's always sucked but this SureWipe spring helped a lot, applies much more pressure. Not the prettiest thing but from 10' you have to look for it to tell its there, well worth the $$, and you get an extra if it ever pops off or breaks. Awesome. Thanks for the links. I think I'm better off replacing the motor. Knowing my luck, I'd do more damage trying to rig up the existing nub. Fortunately I found some used motors on car-parts.com for under $50 so that's some good news. Thanks again!

When I got my 04 the wiper was shot. I had to dremel the nut to split it to get it off. Sucked and I hate to think about taking the one off on my 07.
