Does anyone else get tired of these run-on posts? I mean, where people have no clue what punctuation is? I can see a few here and there. Got that. Especially if you're doing it from an iPhone or other device. But even then, there still shouldn't be a massive charlie foxtrot of a run on sentance. The damn phone corrects conjuctions. If you double tap the space bar, it puts in a period! Couldn't be any easier!

Is our country getting that lazy that people can't be bothered to put in a period, comma, apostrophe, semi-colon, or anything else like that?

Is there something the forum Gods might know of that can help avoid this annoying situation?

That doesn't bug me nearly as much as people that use the wrong but similarly sounding word, like breaks for brakes, etc., and don't even know they're dong it nor do they care. Too busy raising these kids in school these days rather than teaching real "Engrish". :p

it's "people who use" not "people that use".

It's a combination of laziness and stupidity.
Those posts give me a headache trying to read them, so I don't.

As for the Forum Gods doing anything about it, unfortunately there's no stupidity filter available.

Nobody noticed 'sentence' is spelled wrong in the first post. Anyway my personal pet peeve is the misuse of 'then' and 'than'. Then is time related, as in, "I'll see you THEN". Than is comparative, as in, "I'd rather get a root canal THAN go to my mother-in-laws". There are a lot more like 'their','there', and 'they're' which no one seems to know when to use properly. Nobody knows what they're 'dong' anymore. :ohwell:
 
Grammar and punctuation is so annoying. I get annoyed of it, but when you point it out you have to be SO careful you don't make a mistake yourself. There's a limit for what I can tolerate, mainly as stated, misspelling brake and other common words annoys me. And then incorrectly using their/there/they're or incorrectly using apostrophes (like it's when it should be its) since I'll read it like it's spelled.

Oh well, some people are too lazy or don't have the educational level to know any better. Like I said, as long as the majority of the post is correct so I don't have to decipher what they're trying to say I won't complain--it's a truck forum after all, not an English forum :D It gets worse on the jet ski and other power sports forums, and the majority of the people there can't even logically think through how something works or accept physics and engineering. That coupled with bad spelling really turns me off...

I think it has to do with people texting more and more these days. Most people seem to be under the impression that misspelling is ok as long as you can make yourself understood, and its maddening. There is only ONE person I know who uses impeccable grammar regardless of whether its on a computer or a phone. I have to say its an absolute joy talking to him for the simple reason that after a long friggin day of group texts that I want no part of, he is the only one I don't feel like strangling because I can actually read what he writes without some sort of mental struggle.
 
Misspelled words don't really bother me, with the exception of there, their, they're. We all have our brain fart moments, and, coming from someone who uses Tapatalk a lot, it's easy to misspell a word on these phones.

But the sheer madness of someone trying to make a post without a single period, comma, or any sort of punctuation just makes me want to report them as spam.

I do 100% blame the texting to much, and the fact that everyone talks like that.

I will admit, if I'm texting someone, I 99.999999999% of the time text like I speak. I hate short, abbreviated texts. Now, if I'm driving, or in the middle I something, I could care less how my text comes out. (Only answer the wife with short texts so she doesn't continue to blow my phone up.). A good example of this would be say she texts me while I'm driving. I'll simply look at the road, and type "drining". She gets that I'm driving, and stops texting, and calls or just waits till I'm home. Or I'll text her "me 2" if I'm in the middle on something at work. Or just ignore her, but she HATES that.

But these people that can't spell consistently, don't use punctuation, and just ramble really make me want to reach through the phone and choke them until they get smarter.

I just read that post. The author seems to have a learning disability. As the parent of a great son who struggles mightily with one I won't criticize. Thank God and some very patient teachers he communicates better than the Pirate poster now that he's completed eighth grade.

Defiantly instead of definitely. Drives me crazy reading that on a regular basis. Gotta be the next abused word after their/ there/ they're.
