Recommended Oil Weight in 4.0 Engine

I don't have a 4RNR yet, but was wondering what the recommended oil weight is, for warm south temps?

What year(s) are you looking at buying? IIRC, 2003-09 call for 5w-30, 2010+ call for 0w-20.

The 2010+ model 5th Gen 4Runners use an updated 1GR-FE (4.0L V6) engine than the 2003-2009 4th Gen 4Runners, 2007-2009 FJ Cruisers, and 2005+ Tacomas.

The Dual VVTi 1GR-FE in the 5th Gen 4Runners calls for a 0W-20 Synthetic oil that meets or exceeds API rating SN. The 0W-20 oil is supposed to be good for almost all temperatures, so its the oil you will want to use to maintain proper operation of your potential new vehicle as well as warranty coverage.

A friend has the 2015 also and according to him, the recommended oils is 0-20 based on the manual.
