Red Clay Road Rally 2017

On June 2-4, 2017 we will be hosting the first ever 500 mile Overland Road Rally through the mountains of Tennessee. This rally will incorporate a healthy mixture both technical trail driving, and asphalt roads. It is not a rally race, you are penalized for being early or late to each checkpoint. It is a Monte-Carlo style scoring system. You will need a 4 wheel drive, high clearance vehicle to successfully finish. All vehicle makes and models are welcome.



Teams of 1 to 3 vehicles are welcome, and each team needs at least 1 navigator. There will be checkpoints along the route which you will be given. GPS will not be used. All maps are paper. The winning team will get some pretty cool prizes, and I am currently working on getting more sponsors. 10 teams are already registered, and it is only day 20 of registration.

I've participated in a few motorcycle "enduros" which sound to be of a similar set up, although they don't last nearly as long. I like the sound of the format, could be fantastic fun. I usually spend most of my time getting lost and exploring anyways.

Oh yeah, it could make it. At some spots you'd just have to choose a good line but could make it with patience.

30 inches is the deepest I've navigated so far, and I don't expect any deeper. You won't need to skip any checkpoints due to an obstacle, the checkpoints are sometimes a hundred miles apart. If you do skip a checkpoint you'll just accrue 60 points and be required to meet us that night at the campsite. No disqualifications. I'll be driving the roughest (terrain) section of the course tomorrow. I'll get some photos and share them on here.

Boy has this evolved. Ive neglected this thread but we have filled registration with 108 vehicles from North and South America, on 46 teams.

Everything is finalized and we are set to drive 650 miles of Appalachia in less than 2 weeks.
