I need some advice / input from some opinionated minds...

My birthday is coming up, the GF actually asked me what I want for my rig for around $300. Opinions?


I recently went to Red Cone Peak/Pass in North Park, Colorado with 1 other 3rd gen, 1 FJ, and 1 Jeep Cherokee. The trail at its most difficult is rated a 7 out of 10. I got stuck 2x. Once because of my inexperience on the trail. I managed to get my rear axle stuck on a rock. I got pulled out no problem, but I was very curious if I would do damage to anything without skid plates. Thankfully just a light scratch on rear axle. Is there a rear axle housing skid?

I am looking into shrockworks full skid kit... any others to look at?

Who has a FULL undercarraige skid? Control arms + underbody + rear axles / control arms? Am I going to have to piece it together with Shrockworks/BAMF etc?

My upcoming maintenance mod list is:
-lower ball joints
-radiator + cap
-inner & outer tie rods
-lower control arm bushings
-mean green alternator + starter
-CVJ axles
-5th wheel/spare
-sound deadening

I need help figuring out why my back window gets stuck on the rear wiper..? I can pull on the rear wiper and the window will go down. Any way to remedy this?


I realize there's a search capability and have been using it a lot. I am on the go all day today / this week, and wont have time for surfing. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Bud Built makes a rear diff skid for the 3rd Gens. I assume you have a 3rd Gen based the photos you posted. They also make full skids. Shrockworks, as you mentioned, does too. Can't go wrong with either. I actually have RCI, but the don't do 3rd Gens.
