I'll move the questions to the top in hopes of getting some answers.
1. For converting automatic hubs to manuals, are the spindles the same from an auto hub 4runner and a manual hub Tacoma? I know the CV axles and the manual hub press in parts are different, just unsure if I need different spindles.
2. For the rear end, any better options for a rear axle housing or stronger axles? I'd hate to invest and rebuild if there are better options.
So I've been out of the game for awhile. Bought a house and have been loaded with renovations, some health problems, other projects, etc.
Anyway, last December the PATYWGN started to make some noises and not drive all that great so instead of trying to fix in the dead of winter, I decided to park it and wait for spring. Spring came around and I didn't get to it, then summer and I decided to daily drive it to remember what I was hearing and feeling in December. A little drivetrane whine but nothing obvious, also it seemed to have some lag and slow down if i wasn't accelerating, like a dragging brake. I was on the way to work one morning and slowing for a stop sign and heard "BANG" and it pulled hard to one side. I thought for sure I broke a ball joint, but no.
So, I was busy and parked it until time allowed for more investigation, which never came.
Now I'm pissed that there is snow on the ground and I'm stuck in my daily driver Honda Accord instead of my 4X4 with remote start. I'm planning on things to do this summer to get back on the road.
Front End:
Manual Locking hubs
Refurbish my SPC UCAs (bushings and ball joints)
Refresh front brakes (have 231mm Tundra brakes)
New lower control arms and ball joints
Gear oil change
*new steering rack if time and money allows - current still going but a little sloppy
Rear End:
Either refurbish a good used rear end or tear mine out and refurbish
New axle seals
New axles - mine have some wobble so unsure if they are slightly bent (got used)
New bearings and associated parts
New rear brake drums and shoes
New bellcranks (if available)
New parking brake cables
If you're still reading this novel, time for questions.

I have a work discount on OEM parts so I'll be using that where needed but I'm still going to try to do this as reasonably as possible with either good used parts or fixing what I've got.
I'd add pics but apparently photobucket has imploded since I've used the internet last.
