This is what I follow for the rear gears but the front gears don't really have a break in cause it's not used constantly according to shop who did my re-gear. Just don't push the front gear hard initially though.
New Gear Break-In Procedure
Since our rigs are FWD when in 2WD wouldn’t we drive in 4wd to break in the rears as well?.
Got it thanks for the clarification. For some reason I always thought it was FWD. so you never went into 4WD for the initial 500 mile break in? What is the vacuum gauge for?
ECGS break in procedure I understand but I’m not sure if I’m suppose to drive in 4WD for break in or just leave it in 2WD. Since our rigs are FWD when in 2WD wouldn’t we drive in 4wd to break in the rears as well? Over on TW the taco guys are breaking in the fronts only when on fire roads but paved roads they are in RWD.
You can do that also, put into 4wd and dive fire roads. I barely used my 4wd except a month after re-gearing I went up to Tahoe and used 4wd the majority of time there but in slow and not extended lengths of time.
You didn’t use 4wd for the initial 500 mile break in? Did you change only the rear oil after the break in or both front and rear?
I’m getting my regear on the 15th and going on a trip July 4 weekend. Would it be ok to break in the front on blue and red trails or would it be better to find some fire roads to break in the front before the July 4 trip?
Why wouldn't you just put it in 4 hi for the 400 mile break in? Get them both done at the same time, do the oil change at the same time. That's how the V8 guys have to do it.
That’s what I was wondering why can’t I just drive in 4H. Over on TW folks are only driving in 4H on fire roads. But I don’t see any difference between pave and fire roads. I’m gonna get a hold of ECGS and see what they recommend.
