I was just wondering how much you guys paid for registration. I just renewed mine for $240...I think CA is the highest in the country. Am I right?

$240 here thanks to Arnold. If not I would have paid $800

You guys have it easy...

about $570/year here in AZ.

You have to be kidding!

That is for every year? That is not tax or anything else? That's crazy, that is more than my insurance for 6 months and I live in one of the highest insurance areas.

$570 every stinkin year!!!!!!!!!! OMG

He's not kidding....AZ vehicle registration is highway robbery! It does go down each year based on the value of the vehicle so it eventually becomes affordable.

So that is not bad at all. Now get ready to see how we screw the people of the great Commonwealth we call Virginia;

Got my personal property tax bill in the mail two days ago:
2018 4Runner $1,150.000 to be paid by June base on a $36K valued vehicle. That fee is with a discount of $400.
Renew registration for two years is about $80
To register when purchased new - $2100.

It basically cost about $100 a month to drive the 4Runner on these crappy roads in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

That is horrible and there is nothing you can do about it!

This is exactly why I haven't bought a new 4runner... my taxes this year are like $85 for my 04 with 120k on it

In Washington it now goes by where you live or something (not sure, just moved back from FL) but when I surrendered my FL plate and got all new WA plates, etc. it only cost me $155 for everything for my 4runner where I live. My dad lives about 15-20 minutes away and this year his cost to renew the tabs on his 2013 Audi A8 was like $840, so he used my address and only had to pay $84.

Did you just revive a 14 year old thread? BACK FROM THE DEAD!! haha

:toilet:

You guys that pay based on Personal Property Tax get it hard! My work colleague will not own a new car due to this (Virginia).

Living in MD I pay $180 for a two year registration of an SUV, cars are a little bit cheaper.

Edit: Oh, and no safety inspection in MD, but we do have emissions testing that's $14 and good for 2 years. As long as the CEL is not on, you'll pass. I do with my DTLT headers and URD O2 simulator.

2017 4Runner

Salt Lake County, UT

$212 for 2018/2019

(~$150 Salt Lake County Fee and ~$60 State of Utah Fee)

Wow. That is crackhead prices.

I can’t think of another state that rapes their residents harder than the Commonwealth of Virginia. I think New York is another one buts nowhere near that of VA. Who else got them stats.

In Oregon, new vehicles are good for 4 years, then every two years after that. My '07 was $86 last year for the next 2 years.

$86 in TX for my 2005 with KBB value of $6,000.

Sure beats what they have in GA, they call it the birthday tax since that is when it is due.
My GA annual was over $400

Last year I paid $135 to register my 4Runner. This year it was $185. Gotta love CA and our new Gas Tax (passed without voter approval because the state legislature has a Democratic supermajority - and they LOVE raising taxes). They say the money will be used to fill potholes but I'm pretty sure it'll be used to fund welfare programs and pension funds.

Whoops, maybe I'm getting a little too political.... back to Off-Topic.

Still take that over this nonsense in VA It doesn’t seems likely they will lower this in the near future as more people are moving to this area due to military bases.

Its now $112 for a plain old tree Oregon plate...good for 2 years.

The necro threads seem to come from the tables/phones, I get old threads all the time on the tablet but not on the old win7 PC.

In Maine it is $35 a year then they nail you with an excise tax based on the vehicles original MSRP.

Mine is about $160 total a year... Such bullshit after reading how some other states do it...
