I have spent all weekend detailing my T4R. Washing, polishing, waxing, etc. If you are like me, you have tried almost everything to get rid of hard water spots on your glass. I have purchased stuff that did NOTHING. I have a solution.
Purchase some liquid (the liquid is much easier to use than powder) Bar Keeper’s friend cleaner, Rain-X, a green or blue 3M scouring pad (with sponge on the back) and a couple of rolls of paper towels.
Then mix the following up in a spray bottle.
1. Fill one third of the spray bottle with 80% rubbing alcohol (WalMart)
2. Fill the 2nd third of the spray bottle with distilled water
3. FIll the last third of the spray bottle with while vinegar
4. Add 4-6 drops of Dawn Blue dishwashing detergent - Shake well
The spray is used to clean the glass before and after.
Step 1:
Clean the glass with the home-made spray.
Step 2:
Wet the green or blue 3M scouring pad. Squeeze the excess water out. Pour a little of the BarKeeper’s Friend liquid on the scouring side of the pad. In a circular, buffing motion, scour the window/glass making sure it is well “polished”. (YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE A LOT OF PRESSURE – GO EASY)
Use a paper towel to wipe off the film on the glass. Use the spray to clean off the rest. Repeat these steps if needed.
Once the spots are gone, the glass will look so clear, you will think the window is down (it was in my case anyways)
Do a final clean on the window with the spray and dry well with the paper towel.
Step 3: Final Step
Spray/wipe on some Rain-X and polish until it hazes over. Repeat this step.
Take a wet paper towel or rag and wipe the haze of the Rain-X off.
