Removing rear seatbacks?

I've mostly come across removing the rear seat BOTTOMS and have tried this myself, easy enough - but wonder about removing the seat BACKS for an upcoming roadtrip, theory being it just provides that extra space for storage.

I imagine I'd have to make/adjust a platform to level out the space for sleeping, but are the seat backs just as easy to remove as the bottoms? Are there any safety sensors or other reasons why not to remove them, given the idea is to only remove them "temporarily"?

It's easy. Just a few bolts. Deleted my second row for a platform.

Prob not worth the effort for your purposes especially if you're going to use it for sleeping and will have to make a platform (which will eat up cargo space anyways). Just take the bottoms out and call it a day.

No sensor or cables or major impediment to removing them.
They are nowhere near as easy as the bottoms though.
All depends on your setup and how bad you need the room.
Seat bottoms - easy - pop them in and out.
Seat backs - a little annoying, not something I'd want to do frequently.

I always have the drivers 40% seat bottom out.
Easier for the dog to jump in and nice spot for gym bag, groceries etc.
Only have 1 kid left not driving so rarely need more seats.
I kept the 40% seat back because I have DIY drawers behind and it corals the dog in his seat.

I pop the Passenger 60% seat bottom out if I might sleep in the truck since I'm tall.
It's easy to make a stable sleeping platform that lines up with drawers and uses seat backs for base support.
Sleeping platform not using the seat back would be a little more work and not worth it for me.
