Removing the oil pan

I just picked up my first Toyota, a 1988 4runner with a 22re and a 5 speed. It

I've read in the chilton fix-it manual that the engine has to be lifted to clear the front differential, but it never hurts to prove them wrong!

i have a cpl questions for ya. first is it 4wd? does it have any kind of lift other then torsion crank? well assuming it is 4wd with no lift you will have to drop the ifs roughly 3-4 inches in order to pull the oil pan. Believe me this is much easier then lifting the motor. I have an 86 so this issue has been met and beat already, if you have any other questions feel free to pm or email me

Yeah its 4wd with no lift,

thanks guys I will try dropping the IFS, it sounds like that is the hot ticket.
