replacing stock 3rd gen rear coils/shocks with stock 4th gen rear coils/shocks

I asked a general question about this a long time ago, but I am going to ask again in hopes that someone has some specifics. Our 3rd gen 1996 with 215k has a leaking rear shock. I guess it's finally time to really see about trying this. I hate that I have my stock suspension from the 07 just sitting around gathering dust. So.....

I can install both the coils and the shocks as they will pair together fine, but I am not sure about the ride height. Will it be the same/similar height, higher or lower? I am looking for someone who has done this or with specs rather than guessing here.

Has anyone used the stock 4th gen rear suspension on a 3rd gen? Does anyone have the specs for the stock rear suspension for the 3rd vs 4th gen suspension 96 and 07?

Give it a shot and find out! The only thing that you have to lose if it doesnt work out is a bit of freetime.

I don't have all that free time to spend freeing bolts that haven't been turned in 100k+ miles.....but you are welcome to come by and work on it for me in your free time

So anyone else have any ideas?

Seriously though, it should not be too much work. It would only take you about 30 minutes to pull the rear coil and shock and check their lengths versus the new coil and shock. Also, a good measure would be to count the number of coils and how far apart they are spaced.
