Been a while, looking for a little advice..

My '02 has been sitting for a few months as I've gotten a new truck but I've decided to both hold onto it and give it some love it desperately needs. I know it needs a starter and unfortunately the tap on it trick didn't work so I'm going to have it towed to my mechanic to get it back to strong running condition, I've got a new battery installed in it.

I know I want to do cosmetic work, the CBI hybrid front and rear bumpers are showing rust pretty bad at all the seems (pro-tip, skip their $100 cheap ass PC and have your own shop do it.) So I'll have those pulled and taken to my guy for not garbage PC, I may paint it the body - if not get it wet sanded etc. May look for a sport hood.

I'd like to update the suspension, I did a front spacer lift years ago from Toytech, rear OME springs and new struts but it rides pretty rough, want to investigate coil overs and new struts springs. Tires and wheels are in great shape, like new Goodyear AT Adventures on the nice 5th gen seven "spoke" wheel so no need to update wheels/tires.

What am I missing? Have in the last few years I've not stayed on top of this truck any big happenings in the 3rd gen world? What things would you look for in revitalizing a truck like this?

Since you're located in Dystopia, I'd say the alternate reality mod is for you!

But also since the truck has been sitting, I'd refresh all the fluids, ditch the gas in the tank (unless you treated it prior to storage) and make sure all rubber is attended to; tires, bushings, seals, etc. Rubber tends to dry out and crack over time, as we all know.

Perhaps also a good op to make sure there are no critters stowed in the rig, mice, rats, insects, etc. Check all wiring while you are at it, rodents tend to make a mess of wire harnesses left to their devices.

How long is a few months time? Gas'll go bad before anything else, fluids like oil and the like should be fine. Coolant would only be my thought if you want to check. Rubber lines age so do a quick check of your vacuum hoses by moving them about and checking for cracks. Other than that you really should be fine.

You can totally change your starter yourself. Its not too difficult and will save you a tow bill and install fee's.

Now that politics has been banned from OT it's time to change the fluids at least.

Nothing crazy has happened in the third gen world in the last few years. Maybe update that suspension?
