What's up 3rd gen fam, I wanted to share a recent pick up. It's an FM / Bluetooth transmitter.
I've been trying to find a decent aftermarket HU when I stumbled upon this the other day in Amazon's "other products you may be interested in" area.

Now let me say that I was highly skeptical as my experience with these transmitters in years past is that they always suck. But the reviews on this unit were really solid, and the criticisms minor so I figured for ~$20 might as well give it a shot.
I'm pleased to report that the thing works really well. It locked in on the first frequency I tried and the signal has been really clear - no static or interference.
It's pretty small and innocuous and the display to my eye at least is better-looking than most single DIN aftermarket head units I looked at.
Here's a pic:
Audio sound quality is definitely good enough, if you're using Bluetooth you've already accepted less than stellar performance. There is the typical drop off in volume, but not really a big deal. Connecting at startup has actually been pretty quick and it has reliably connected every time (connection issues are a deal breaker for any Bluetooth device IMO). I also found that it's convenient having Bluetooth running through a radio preset so I can flip around the radio dial without having to change input.
Drawbacks:
- The phone quality seems to be a little worse than the audio quality... Lower volume and some static on my end, but the caller seemed to hear me just fine. Update after more testing: the volume is lower than the audio, but no static
- I don't love the "aftermarket radio blue" lighting.
- There is a hilariously bad British voice to notify you about the connection state, pretty funny at the moment but could get annoying over time.
- You do have to accept a vestigial attachment on your dash, but IMO our dashboard layout has enough room for this little guy to hang out without causing much trouble.
Tl;dr: great option to add Bluetooth to factory stereo for cheap. Saves money for other mods.
