right rear shock for 2006 sport edition 4 wheel drive

I'm going to order a right rear shock, with the idea that my husband can install it himself. (There is a slight oil leak near the tire.) Our runner is the 4 wheel drive sport edition with the stabilization feature, so I'm told that the system has to be bled afterwards, etc... One dealer I called wanted to replace both shocks and wanted $1350.00. No way! Just wondered if anyone had replaced a rear shock on a sport edition, 4 wheel drive, and what your experience was. My husband has worked on my Toyota pickup doing brakes, added power steering, and put in a 5 speed, so he has lots of mechanical ability. Thanks for any advice! I need this fixed so I go to Mammoth Mountain in a few weeks.
