Rim Width Compatability

I found some 17" x 9" ATX chamber wheels and I want to run 255/75R17 Trail grapplers. Nitto gives the recommended rim width as 7" with a min of 6.5" and a max of 8.5". How much of a difference is the 1/2" ? Is it possible to run this combo? What are the potential problems?

Should be fine. Some people may not want to install it be the specs are off though.
