My sister in law was in a real bad accident today...her 2004 Runner SE was t-boned..it rolled 3x...she walked away...

the car that hit her and passengers were hurt pretty bad...

WOW...3x Rolled Over...and she walked away...pretty much unscathed...

No, she had an 04 with no Side Air Bags...

She actually flipped 3x and landed upside down..she lowered the window and crawled out..

the cab wasn't even dented or crushed..can you believe it? Obviously the side (passenger) was smashed, but wow...

She informed me we're going shopping for an 08 Sport Next week once the insurance has taken care of it..

Haha..thank the angels...and thank the Toyota Engineers :bigok:

One of the reasons I bought a T4R and probably the best reason to keep it even in times of high gas prices. Who cares how much gas costs if you're critically injured or dead cause you're t-boned in a little car that gets better gas mileage than your 4R. What good does saving a few bucks do you if you're 6 feet under.

Ahem...:worthless

BUT, I am glad that she is OK, and that she is getting another.

I would say that these SUV's are pretty damn safe.

Amen! Just think of the premium as an extra LIFE insurance. Glad she is ok.

Wow. Ya i'm glad she's ok also. Makes me justify why i'm paying a lot of $$ for gas during this gas crunch.. :)

This is unknown to many car buyers but crash tests are done with vehicles in comparable weight class. The Smart car got a 5 star rating because it was tested against cars its same size i.e a golf cart.....here is a scary picture...

i would never drive a car that doesnt have a full ladder frame

I think the above scenario happened because the driver was texting on his phone. I read a review about that a while back.

Sorry to hear, but at least your sister was not injured. Vehicles can ALWAYS be replaced. Not that it matters, but was the 4Runner equipped with side impact airbags? Those could have made a major difference in this situation.

Very glad that your sister essentially walked away from such a crash ....

I've heard of similar crashes where folks have walked away - all driving 4runners....and in a number of cases, the insurance company fixed the vehicle rather than total it....they are that good!!!

3 out of 4 members of my family drive 4Runners...the 4th member actually totalled his '98, but stayed with Toyota and is now driving an '02 Pre-Runner extra cab....

Hate, like everyone else, paying the gas prices, but knowing what I've got under and around me makes a difference....
